Said pit and place where said trash was so deposited and burned as
aforesaid was about ten feet west of said road and about two feet south
of said path and near the foot of the hill leading down to the said grove
of trees. Said children without the knowledge or consent of their said
parents or either of them had gone down to said group of trees or park
where other people were resting and the said Hollis Dortch by some means
fell into said pit or pile of ashes covering said concealed live coals
of fire and both of said children were burned and died from the effects
of said burns as aforesaid.

This is the 19th, day of July, 1901.
