Publication: Listed in Publisher's Weekly, 42 (December 10, 1892), 1052, at $2.50
in cloth binding only. Like numerous other volumes listed in this issue, its entry
describes it as an "1893 [1892]" publication.

Note: Mixed sheets: as in the second printing of the expanded edition, no page
number appears on p. [16] of the Rush Rhees Library's copy, and it does not list the
book's illustrations.

BX2. Expanded Second American Edition, Second Printing
           Boston: De Wolfe, Fiske & Co., 1895

Same as the first printing except: title page, line 29, '1895.'; page number for p. [16]
is not present, nor is signature 24. The list of illustrations cites 18, including the
frontispiece portrait, rather than 11, and present are 17 plates; but 'Portrait of Mrs.
Harriet Beecher Stowe' (photograph) replaces 'Portrait of John Brown'; 'Portrait of
William Lloyd Garrison' is no longer an engraving but a photograph; and "Abraham
Lincoln" (listed as 'Portrait of Abraham Lincoln' in the first printing of the expanded
second American edition) is derived from a photograph rather than an engraving.
White wove paper, .004" thick, sheets bulk 1  3/8".
