Close reeft our main Top Sail and took in the Jib main Sail and Fore Top Sail at 8 O Clock took in our Fore Sail and Hoisted up the waste Boat middle and Latter part the Same a blowing heavy in Squals one Sail in Sight Employd in killing a hog and Ships duty So Ends this day Lat 38. 45. This 24 hours Comences with a heavy Gale and rain from the S. W hip under Close reef main Top Sail and main Spencer middle and Latter part the Same the watch Employd in refitting the Jib whips and breaking out the Fore Hatch for water and a New Close mizen Saw two Sails So Ends this mounth Lat 38. 36. South Long West

This day Comences with a fresh Gale from the W. N. W Steering S. W. by S under Close reef Top Sails Jib and main Sail Spoke the Barque Elizabeth of Mataposett did not acertin how much Oil at 6 O Clock P. M took in the Job and main Sail at 8 furled the Fore Top Sail and Fore Sail heavy Squals and Lightning through the Night Latter part more moderate Set the Fore Sail and Fore Top Sail Saw nothing more this 24 hours So Ends the day Lattitude by Observation 39. 10 South Long 49. 36. West

Monday the 2 March 1846

This day Comences with Squals from the S. W heading S. S. E. by the wind Barque under Close reef Top Sails middle part the Same turned the reefs out of the Top Sails Latter calms Employd in Sending down the main Royal and Top Galient Mast and Sent up the Stump Top Galient mast got our Larbord anchor off the bow and Stowed on deck and Set up the Fore Top Galient head Stays Saw one Sail Steering into the Southward So Ends this day Lattitude by Observation 38. 53 S Long

This 24 hours Comences with fine breezes from the S. W Barque heading South under whole Top Sails at 8 O Clock P. M Double reeft the Top Sails middle part very Squaly took in the Jib Latter part the Same the watch Employd in various jobs of Ships duty Saw 3 Sails Spoke the Yeoman of Plymouth a Crusing with 300 bls of Sperm Oil 8 mounths from home Saw Nothing more this 24 hours
