779 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Apr 2 1886 Councilman Lake submits an ordinance entitled "An ordinance to provide for the collection of Road Poll Taxes within the City of Seattle" On motion the ordinance is laid on the table until the next meeting The special order ofthe meeting is now taken up The city attorney reads an ordinance entitled "An ordinance to further extend and established Madison Street in the City of Seattle" On motion the ordinance is referred to the Street Committee and City Attorney to report at the next meeting On motion the permission hereto fore granted to T J Howard to conduct a laundry is revoked Councilman Calligan moves that the Inspector of Police be instructed to dismiss from patrolmen Councilman Post moves to amend by striking out all after the words "instructed" and inserting the words "to retain the police force as it is until next meeting" the amendment is lost by the folowing vote; viz: in favor thereof Councilmen J Furth, G W Hall and J J Post; against councilmen R H Calligan, T W Lake, Chas McDonald and G W Young Councilman Calligan's original motion is now put and carried by the folowing vote to wit: in favor thereof Councilmen R H Calligan, G W Hall, T W Lake, C McDonald and G W Young, against Councilmen J Furth andJ J Post Councilman J Furth calls up the matter of raising
