To the Mayor and City Council of the City of Seattle Greeting: Whereas there is now being printed and circulated in this city an certain paper known and designated as the Sunday Breeze Mercury, and also a certain other paper known and designated as the Sunday Sun: and Whereas, these papers do smirch the character of our citizens and corrupt the moral of our youth; and Whereas certain of our sister cities, deeming such publications unfit to be read by their citizens, have prohibited their circulation within the corporate limits of such cities; Therefore, we, the undrsigned, most respectfully petition your Honorable Sir and Body to take such action as will effectulally stop the publication and distribution of said papers in our own fair city. Fourth: Owning to the opeing up of said South 12th Street, property lying between Jackson and Stacey Streets has greatly enhanced in value and should therefore stand its fair proportion of the Expense of Said improvements, which it doesn't do under the assessment as now made. YOur petitioner would therefore most respectfully ask that said assessment by revoked and a now one made, based upon the present values of property onsiad South 12th Street to the end that Each piece of propety on said Street shall pay its fair pro rata of the Cost of said improvements.
