Gentlemen: Your petitioner respectfully represents that he sold a tract of land 40 ft. x 90 feet on Main Street in the City of Seattle to said City of Seattle for engine house purposes, that it was expressly agreed and so stated in the deed from petitioner to said City that grantee was to pay all taxes on said land assessed against the same for the year 1889; that said petitioner was the owner of Lots 5+ 6 Block 57 of Maynard's Plot, whereof the above is a portion, and said lots 5 + 6 were entirely assessed to said petitioner and in order to pay his taxes was compelled to pay the taxes of the whole two lots including the portion sold to the City; Petition paid for County tax $25.50 City tax -- 18.

81 Columbia March 5th 1894 The Town council met pursuant to adjournment Mayor Hutchinson presiding Roll call and the following council men present - Willacy, McKay & Groat The minutes of the last meeting read and on motion approved. The committee appointed to audite the books of the Clerk and Treasurer report and on motion the report accepted The report of the water committee on the work done under Joseph Hellenthal on the water works for month of January read and approved and on motion warrants ordered drawnfor the payment of the work done in excess of the water rent and the Treasurers instructed to credit the amount worked out on water rent to the several accounts and to give receipts for the same. Bill from Z C Miles read and on motion laid on the table. Bill from O S Hepler for laying pipes on Angelina St $51.73 read and on motion ordered paid. The report of the City Engineer read and on motion ordered placed on file. Motion made and carried to lay the matter of grading Angelina St on the table until the next meeting. Attorney Peterson's report on the ownership of the Park and on motion it was decided to postpone the park question unitl next meeting. Ordinance #44 known as the dog tax ordinance read and on motion passed by the council and approved by the Mayor. Ordinance # 45 referring to applying of Columbia St improvement warrants as payment of assessment against property fronting on that street read and on motion laid on the table until next meeting.

A petition read preying that council to employ attorney to institute action to recover the property known as the Columbia Park and on motion ordered placed on file. Motion made and carried to lay ordinances #45 on the table until there is a full board present. Motion made and carried for the Park Committee to instruct attorney Peterson to institute proceedings to secure title to the Columbia Park The question of letting the grading of Angeline Street discussed and on motion the clerk instructed to post notices calling for bids to be opened Monday March 19th at 8 o'clock pm On motion the Council adjourned to meet Monday March 19th at 8 o'clock pm Approved Monday March 19th 1894 B R Shaw clerk C P Hutchinson

Gentlemen,
The late City Government entered into an agreement with Messrs. Peterson and Christenson for the building of two scows at Lake Washington, the original plans of which were later amended and the City thus rendered liable for delay and material.
The Board of Public Works have made a settlement with Messrs. Peterson and Christenson, whereby the sum of #1350- is to be paid by the City for one scow, now completed, and the material so far as ordered for the second scow is taken off the hands of the contrators at cost price to them.
