33 School St. Boston,

Henry S. Hallet Esqr

Dear Sir,

A gentleman called here yesterday to inquire about the tomb for sale, in Hazel Dell, owned by our Corporation, and recollecting your sale on Monday, I at once said, "I suppose you are connected with the gentleman who called Monday in making this inquiry." He said "No, he had inquired of me previously about this tomb & other locations" - which fact I had forgotten. He wishes the refusal of the tomb at our price - $2,000 - for 24 hours. I told him, I could not do anything without seeing Capt. Winsor, which I would do this morning, and answer him today at 12 o'clock.

Upon seeing the Supt this morning, I learned that you had proposed to bring your friend out to see it, and wished the refusal of the tomb for three or four days, and that he had promised you that he would not dispose of it without giving you notice.

I therefore write you, to say that we shall be compelled to ask you to decide in the matter today or tomorrow as another gentleman stands ready (I think) to take it, and only asked for today.

This is not intended to hasten you, on a false alarm - but as we have another bona-fide bidder, we must look after the interests of the Corporation in this matter.

Yours very resp.y

A. J. Coolidge Sec.y of Mt Auburn
