G.A. Kettell Esq

Dear Sir,

Julia Willard was interred in lot no 2924 Mt Auburn on the 27th ultimo. But no order was signed by the proprietor Elisha W. Willard, nor were the particulars of age, date & place of death given. I find at the bottom of a partly filled blank order, returned to me in the file for ^the August record, this memo.-

"Mr Willard will send permit as soon as he can get it from the west."

I am informed that Mr Willard's son is at your house. Under the circumstances, will you have the kindness to see that the requirement of the properly executed order is met?

If you wish any blank for the purpose, I will furnish you.

Truly yours,

A.J. Coolidge Sec.y Mt. Au.

I send you the blank to save you trouble of sending.

33 School St. Boston,

Messrs R.A. & Q.A. Vinal

Gentlemen,

There would seem to be some doubt, if not confusion, about the location of lots 2767 to 2771 in Mt Auburn. On our plan the numbers stand in certain positions, without any intermediate boundary lines. Each lot contains 300 ft. and the lines should be shown, else errors may be made in making interments.

Before me is the order of "Robt Vinal by A.E. Vinal" for the interment on the 27th of August, of Harrie Dunbury Vinal, "in lot no. 2770, owned by Robt Vinal."

Now lot 2770 belongs to Mr Burt and the undertaker tells me that the interment was made in what he understands to be Mr Burt's lot.-

One of two things is then obvious - that either the interment was wrong, or the order for it should be corrected.

Will one of you see me - almost any day after 12 noon.

Yours truly

A.J. Coolidge Secretary of Mt. Au.

Elisha Dyer Esq Providence R.I.

My dear Sir,

I owe you a dozen apologies for neglecting your request for information & forms so long: -- but [have?] hardly known for a month whether I was in or out of the body, such has been the load of work upon me. I shall be so occupied for a week or ten days.

After that, if I can do you service I shall be most happy to comply with your wish, if such matters will then be seasonable. Please inform.

Very respy. yours

A.J. Coolidge Secretary

Messrs R.A. & Q.A. Vinal,

Gentlemen,

I have written you twice before that there is a difficulty and contradiction about the numbers applied to your lots in the Cemetery -- 2767, 2768, 2769, 2770, 2771, which I wish you to enable us to clear up. To say nothing of the error upon our present plan, we are preparing a lithograph plan for the proprietors, as it is to be regretted that any known error should be perpetuated. You can of course, set it straight, if you choose - and I trust you will do so.

Yours respy

A.J. Coolidge Sec.y

Report of Committee on Interments.

(referred to at p. 218)

The Committee on Interments, to whom was referred with power, the application of W. W. Blackmar for authority to remove the bodies of Mary S. Blackmar and Sarah Blackmar from Lot 2017, for re=interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery, respectfully

Report,

That Lot 2017 now stands in the name of one A. H. Powers, whose present residence is unknown to the Secretary, and after search has not been found.

Mr Blackmar has, however, presented to the Committee a deed of an undivided half of said Lot, dated , to Charles E. Evans, executed by Charles Cook as attorney for Powers, with the Power of Attorney from Powers to Cook. It further appears from the records of interments that said Cook was recognized by the Corporation as the attorney of Powers, and signed the order for the original interments. Mr Evans was also recognized as a joint proprietor of Lot 2017, and as such holds a ticket of admission to
