33 School St Boston

Washington Murray Esq

Dear Sir, Yours of alt. giving me the desired information respecting Mrs Dana was recd for which I thank you.

I enclose the usual blank for respresentation of lot of decd prop. The charter regulation and by-law you will see at the bottom, in a note.

I suppose in this case, as 1 lot is left in Cemet. to Edward, Stephen, Wm & Samuel, one of them will be designated to represent it, upon the request of the other. I think, too, as the whole family are equally interested in the lot, it is proper for all children to whom it is convenient to present the blank for signature, to exercise their privilege in nominating the person whom they think can most conveniently attend to the duty - small, perhaps, ordinarily, but one which it will be pleasant to feel there will be no embarrassment in the performance of, as often as it arises. The representative, you are doubtless aware, is the proper for son to give any orders, in writing, whenever any work is to be done, or an interment to be made.

As you are a member of the bar, for then explanation will be unnecessary. Indeed, none would be needed, but our practices perhaps a little anomalous.

Since you wrote me, I have seen a very handsome ^obit. notice of Mrs Dana in the Christian Watchman & Reflector - which of course interested me as I am too a Baptist. My father was well acquainted with the Winchester family. He is now 75 yrs old - has survived the most of them. The widow of Wm P. is a neighbor of ours.

Return the petition at your convenience.

Very truly yours

A.J. Coolidge Sec.y Mt. A.
