Mt. Auburn P.O.
Saml T. Snow Esq. D Sir,
Will you give one if you please, a price for lots in rear of those on Fountain Ave, that is between the lots now on South of F. Ave and Indian Ridge. I consider the land only suitable for tombs. I can get a dollar a foot for it, and sell 600 feet for two tombs I think. The parties want an answer by Friday if possible - Land in Hazel dell with Southern exposure sold to Bucknam & Moore for $125 per foot and $50. tomb right, and I should think $1.00 would be a fair price for rear lots with northern exposure. Yours truly James W. Lovering Supt.
Mount. Auburn P.O.
Saml T. Snow Esq. D Sir I have sold Mr. J.C. Squire a lot of 300 ft. corner of Palm Ave. (two branches) He wishes to put the lot under perpet. care and will have but three graves. There is room left for an ornamental bed, which without paying for he wishes to enclose with his curbing. As all the other lots have a border of 6 feet frames posts to the ave., my idea was that you wouldn't care to give him liberty to take this with his lot, even if reservation is made for ornamental purposes alone & he pays for the land in that way - Please advise me.
Yours truly James W. Lovering

Dr Sirs
The matter of a new map of the Cemetery is under consideration, have an estimate for the probable cost of altering our stone & publishing a new edition, and I should be glad to have your figures as to the cost of preparing a plan on same scale as that of 1864, that is, of adding to one of the present lithographs, all new lots sold since 1864, and some few paths &c - The number of lots would be about 500. This includes no work on Chant or Watriss Lots, or on Stone Farm.
Ys respectfully James W. Lovering Supt

Dr Sir
Please let me have a sketch made of lots 3116 and 2031 as now posted, also representing the old lot lines. They have been united into one lot, and a path formerly between has been [thrown?] to the N. side, I would like the cost of this ^plan on bill as we charge it to proprietor.
At the junction of the two branches of Palm Ave. there is a small piece of ornamental ground which has been sold with lot on corner. I would like a sketch (very rough) and the quantity of land.
Please attend to these matters as soon as you can & oblige.
Yrs truly James W. Lovering Supt

Dear Sir
Your valued favor of at hand. We will build the tombs and grade & sod the lots, 4272 & 4273 Palm Ave at the prices named in the enclosed orders, providing we do the whole of the work of excavating & building, or the whole of grading & sodding, but we cannot afford to furnish the labor at these prices unless we take the whole of either of these portions of the work.
We will give you all the time of day & gang which we can, but having already undertaken some other work where he will be needed, must reserve the right to use him for the best general good of the proprietors.
If this meets with your approval, please return these orders signed by the proprietors or by yourself as agent for them. The plan of the tomb must be approved by the committee on Lots.
