Suffolk ss. . Then personally appeared Henry M. Parker and made oath that he would faithfully perform the duties of Secretary of the Proprietors of the Cemetery of Mount Auburn. Before me, Wm. R. P. Washburn Justice of the Peace. April 11th 1851.

Trustees. .

Pursuant to notice issued in the usual manner the Trustees met at the office of Charles P. Curtis Esquire, Court street, Boston, at 12 o'clock noon: Present Messrs Bigelow, C.P. Curtis, I. Parker, Tisdale, Crockett & Dixwell - Mr Gould joined the meeting at 12.30-

the Secretary being absent, Mr Dixwell was appointed Secretary pro tempore.

Painting Fence

Mr. Tisdale was appointed a Committee with full powers to paint the iron fence on the roads, and to replace the wooden posts and rails, on the edge of the side-walk, near the gate, with iron.

Repairs on the Chapel.

Dr. Bigelow brought before the board the present condition of the Chapel, stating that it has always leaked, that the most skilful and faithful mechanics have been employed at great expense to repair the roof without remedying the difficulty; that Messrs Washburn, Treadwell & Standish have examined the building with him, and find great defects in it, and that he has doubts of its safety. The pinnacles are found to be hollow and admit the rain and the walls of the clere-story cracked, as if shaken by the wind, defects known from the time of its erection but compromised with the

Repairs on the Chapel. Estimates.

contractors. - He has obtained from Mr. Standish the following approximate estimates, viz't:

For rebuilding the whole structure with the materials ___
now in it $7000
rebuilding the clere-story 3000
" [rebuilding] the pinnacles 1000
After discussion, the whole subject was postponed to a future meeting, to be holden this day fortnight, to enable the Trustees to visit the building, and inform themselves on the subject _

Statue of J. Story.

A letter from W.W. Story Esquire, dated on the subject of the statue of Judge Story was read and considered _ and it was thereupon

Voted. That Mr. Story's offer to resign the commission given to him, for making a statue of Judge Story, and to cancel the contract between him and the Trustees, be and the same is accepted.

Voted. That Dr. Bigelow Messrs I. Parker, & C.P. Curtis be a committee to confer with Mr Story, with full power to make a new contract with that gentleman, if possible, on such terms as they see fit.
