353 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Sept 7/83

Be it remembered that on this the 7th day of September 1883 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to law.

The following Officers are present, towit: His Honor the Acting Mayor Councilman U. M. Rasin and Councilmen Thomas Clancy, B. F. Day, Geo. W. Harris, Charles McDonald, Otto Ranke and F. W. Wusthoff

Petitions Rec'd From A. S. Miller et al for changing proposed elevation of Sidewalks on 4th Street near Marion. Referred to Street Committee

From ]]Murphy and Stewart]] asking for the postponement of the detention of the forfeiture for & on a/c of 9th Street Improvement bid of $250.00 until the final payment. Referred to the Street Committee

From G. N. Alexander for an extension of time for the completion of the piling on South 3rd Street until October 10, 1883. Referred to Street Committee

From M. H. Wilcox et al for a crossing in Front Street. Referred to Street Committee

From Geo F. Frye for the right to move building through the street to use a portion of Front & Marion Street for building purposes, for the dumping of earth foot of Marion Street & for the right to construct a Sewer across Front Street Referred to Street Committee

From the Surveyor submitting the Plans and Specifications for the construction of Sidewalks in Spring Street under Ordinance No. 440. Referred to the Street Committee

Committees Reports Rec'd From the Street Committee recommending the granting of the petition of Deitrich Rohl et al for the opening of Clay Street from Water Street to City limits. Adopted & Street Commissioner is hereby instructed to okay the law.

597 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Feb 9/85 Be it remembered that on this the 9th day of February 1885 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment.

The following Offices are present, Court: His honor the Mayor John Leary and Councilmen, Geo F. Frye, B. L. Northup, Alfred Snyder, E. F. Sox, H. L. Yesler, W. M. Latimer and W. V. Rinehart.

Thereupon the following proceedings are had:

Petions Rec'd Crossing Battery St & 6th From the Directors of School Dist No. 1. for crossings in Battery Street at 5th and 6th Streets. Granted so far as a crossing at 6th Street is concerned and Street Commissioner is instructed to do the work. J H May in 5th St Grade From J.H. May for an allowance of $20.00 from Hawkins claim on 5th Street Grade. Referred to Clerk. Committees Reports Lanterns Revolvers etc for Police From Police Commitee recommending the purchase by the City of lanterns, revolvers, clubs etc for the use of the Police Force. Adopted Hog pen nuisance near Lawtons From Health Committee recommending the abatement of a Hogpen nuisance near C.W. Lawtons. Adopted Moyer From Judiciary Committee returning the petition of Geo F. Moyer with-out action recommending that the same be referred to the City Attorney. License ordinance From Committee on Licenses recommending certain amendments to Ordinance No. 637. Ordered laid on the the table and consideration of the report indefinitely postponed. Buckias From Judiciary Committee recommending the granting of the petition of Sylvanus Buckias. Adopted. Licenses referred Application for Licenses Referred Julius W. Smith, Patrick Flynn Granted Licences Ordered Issued Ordered that licenses be issued as followed, Court; Aug Wolff for Retail Malt Liquors for 3 months from Feb 13, 1885 Boegli and Braillard Intoxicating Liquors for 3 months from Feb 12, 1885 Schwabacher Bros and Co. Wholesale Liquors for 6 months from Feb 9, 1885 S. Baxter and Co. Wholesale Liquors for 6 months from Feb 10, 1885 John Shepich Retail Malt for 3 months from Feb 8, 1885.
