Sir

I duly rec’d your fav’r of 5th curr’tt & agreeable to your request will as soon as I can. Send you the demensions & cost of our light house, with as particular a description of it as I can procure. As about 18 months ago I had occasion to do the same for the government of Pensilvania. I believe the carpenter, who took the demensions then, can furnish me with them now & with as particular discription as can be procur’d, unless he has lost him minutes, in which case I must send him down again, which will be attended w’th some expence. When there is any of the very best of Isle Shoal Dum winter fish to had with you, please to procure & send me 10 q’ttes (???) in which youl must oblige

Your most hum’l serv’t

P.S. I sent a draft & moddel of our light house to Phil’a if you choose one, please advice & it shall be procurd. The cost was £116 old tenor inclu’g the expence of the carpenters going to take the demensions &c

I had no expectation of receiving Vans’s till the devidends are rec’d of the trustees, nor did I think you expect it. Mr. Fitch never engagd more then to make good one fourth part in case there was a deficiency when the whole devidends were paid, which I think it to your advantage. As I really relieve they will fall short of that. I daily expect to be inform’d of Wendell’s circumstances by a particular freind who I can rely on. When I am will communicate it to you for your approbation. Besides were I in cash for these devidends there will not be the sum in my hands you draw for, & if Mumford fails in the payment of his note (which hope will not be the case from what you say) you will be still largely in areas

Besides if you get the lanthorn made here by Mr. Foster which imagine will be most for your advantage. The moddell of that may be omitted & will a lone save 8 to 12 dollars. The original cost of our light house in the year 1716 was £2385.17. 8/2. Silver at 9/3 per oz taken from the votes of the general court. The frame, casements & cover of the lanthorn without were then of wood. It is now of iron & copper, & along cost £600 lmo, which is collected from the several tradesmens bills who found the materials & did the work. Please to take a copy of the plan I send you & return me the original for the use of the carpenter who took it. Having promis’d him it should be returnd. If I can be any further serviceable in this affair to the committee (to whom please to dender my compliments) they may freely command their & your The inclos’d is copy of the votes of the gene’l court referd to above ---
