"About a week since I recd a letter fr Dr J.B. Bigelow authorizing me to draw upon Geo. W. Bond for $1500. due upon the Statue of Gov. Winthrop. He recommended me to send a certificate of its execution from the U. S. Consul which I have done, & also a witnessed conveyance of the Statue to Mt Auburn Corporation according to contract which I have not done for 2 reasons. 1st I think the Corporation are secure of such conveyance by the terms of the contract. 2nd because if they require more you have full power to satisfy them."
