Seattle 16th - 3rd - 91 To the Honorable Board of Public Works of the City of Seattle Gentlemen Having been an insinuating item in the Evening papers regarding a Silver Badge. Please permit me to lay the facts before you. As I am entirely to blame in the matter, I asked the Chief of Police for a Badge as the one I had been wearing was broken had unfit to wear. He told me where to get one made. I went myself an ordered it. and as I have a great deal of rough riding to do I had it made a different shape to the usual ones. I understood the City was supplying the Badges so procured as order from the Chief of Police for a requisition had it signed by one of the Police Commissioners got the required requisition and gave it to E W Morton and took the badge. As to the Badge Costing more than the others it may have cost more tomake it and if it is your pleasure that I pay for it please imform me of the fact and I will do so at once Hoping you will attach the lame wholly to me. Your respctfully A E Boyd

Seattle July 1st, 1890

To your honor the Mayor and Common Council of the City Of Seattle

As I have been spoken to by members of the Council regarding a bull claimed by Mr Fagan to have been sold and not advertised I have thoroughly investigated the matter ... and I wish to make a statement to your honorable body. I find that on the 5 day of September, 1889 there was Impounded one small brindle and white bull about 3 years he was advertised on the 7th day of September & sold on the 11th. On the day of the sale there was no one that would bid on him & the Chief of Police said that if he was not sold he would be an expense on the City and that I had better take him. I paid $10.00 for the bull put him in pasture for some 30 odd days at the expense of $3.00 and at the expiring of that time I sold him to a sausage maker for $16.00. I did not see any brand on the bull. I understand that Mr Fagan claimed in his statement that he spoke to me about his bull. I remember sometime in the early part of November last a man stopped me on the street and spoke about a bull he had lost but that I could not conceive the idea of connecting his bull with the inferior looking animal that was advertised & sold in September last. The man who spoke to me I afterward found out to be Mr Patrick Fagan.

The above statement can be testified at any time, should it be necessary.

Respectfully submitted A E Boyd Pound Master
