Passed a French barque standing to the Westd [Westward] at 9 Light NNW wind & calms. at 11 Light wind a West passed a ship as ourselves.

July 20th

am Light breeze a SW to West & squally with rain at times. Latde [Latitude] obsd [observed] 7.49 No Londe [Longitude] Chr [Chronometer] 23.49 W Course S 36 E 100 miles Bar [Barometer] 30.07 Sympr [Sympiesometer] Ther [Thermometer] air 79 water 80 PM Light SW wind & rainy. Signalled the Portuguese ship "Antilla" & the English ship "Virginian" stdg [standing] to the Nd [Northward] Midt. [Midnight] Light WSW wind & cloudy.
