108 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Aug 4/82 The reports of the following officers are received and ordered placed on file, viz: Street Commissioner, Harbor Master, Fire Warden, City Justice, City Attorney. Ordered that the clerk be and he is hereby instructed to advertise for bids for the furnishing of the City with the following articles for the ensuing year; viz, Lumber and Stationery; and for bids for lighting the gas lights, and doing the printing of the City. Ordered that the Committee on Health and Police be and they are hereby constituted a Board of Health. Ordered that the council stand now adjourned. Attest Approved E.S. Aug 11/82 Be it remembered that on this the 11th day of August, 1882, the Common Council of the City of Seattle, meets in its council chamber pursuant to the call of the mayor and in accordance with ordinance No 292. Present his honor, the mayor, H.G. Struveand councilmen Charles F. Clancy, O.F. Cosper, Fred Gash, G.L. Manning, Charles McDonald and U.M. Rasin. Thereupon the following proceedings are had. A communication is received from the mayor relative to a defect in ordinance No 292, and is ordered filed. The Legislative and Judiciary Committee are instructed to submit an ordinance replacing ordinance No 292. A petition is received from A.P. Spaulding et al praying for the opening of Eleventh Street and is referred to the Committe on Streets and Street Improvements. A petition is received from Stewart and Ebersold praying for a sidewalk on the West side of Front Street, and is referred to Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. Referred to the committee on Streets and Street Improvements From the Heirs at Law of Fred Slother Dec'd for the adjustment of sidewalk tax for Jackson Street sidewalk tax levy under Ordinance No. 283, Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. From Roswell Scott et al for an Ordinance prohibiting the wearing of bells on animals. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements From M Densmore et al for an Ordinance changing the Grade on Union Street from Front Street to8th Street and to have Union Street u-graded. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Impr -ovements. From Robert Kaupe et al for an Ordinance to construct side walks on both sides of Union Street from Front Street to the East side of Eighth Street. Referred to the Committee on Street and Street Improvement. From Geo Harlip for the right to erect a fish stand. Referred to the Committee on Streets And Street Imrpovements From W.R. Brawley et al for the opening of Washington Street from 10th to 11th Street, and for the opening of 11th Street from Washington Street to Main Street. 121 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Be it remembered that on this the 4th day of September 1882 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. The following Offices are present, to wit: His Honor the Mayor H.G. Struve and Councilmen John Collins, Chas F. Clancy, Fred Gasch, Charles McDonald, G. L. Manning and V.M. Rasin. Thereupon the following proceedings are has: Reports of Committees Received From Judiciary and Legislative, submitting an ordinance entitled "To provide for the purchase of certain real estate" From Health and Police, in the Communication of D. E. L. Smith for a 3 month leave of absence, recommending the granting of the prayer of said Communication. Adopted and petition granted. From Finances, on the claim of W. E. Boone, recommending the same be paid. Adopted. From Finances, on the matter of bids for job printing, recommending that the Clerk be authorozed to procure job work done and he may judge for the best interests of the City. Adopted and bids rejected. From Street and Street Improvements, on the petition of O.S. Wright et al for the opening Canal Street from 12th to 13th Streets, and 13th Street to be opened from Canal Street to a point 100 feet south of the south line of Catharine Street, recommending the granting of said petition. Adopted and petition granted. From Streets and Street Improvements, on the petition of A.K. Manning et al for the opening of 3rd Street from Battery to Blanchard Streets, recommending the granting of said petition. Adopted and petition granted. 141 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE P.M. Ordered that the council stand adjourned until Thursday October 5, 1882 at 7&1/2 O'clock P.M. Attest: E.S. Osborne clerk Approved H G Struve Mayor Oct. 5/82 Be it remembered that on this the 5th day of October 1882 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its council chamber pursuant to adjournment The following officers are present to wit: His honor the mayor H.G. Struve and councilmen O.F. Cosper, Charles F. Clancy, Fred Gasch, Charles McDonald and U.M. Rasin Thereupon the following proceedings are had. And now the council proceeds to examine, consider & hear all complaints touching the amended and supplemental assessment roll for the grading & improvements under ordinance No 288, which roll was filed with the city Clerk September 5. 1882. Thereupon the Council makes the following changes & corrections in said roll to wit: The assessment against S.G. Benedict on Lot 4 Block 24 of Denny's plat valued at $800 for land & $100 for improvements is erased & struck from said roll The assessment against Geo Kinnear on lot 8 block 15 of Boren & Denny's plat valued at $2500 for land & $400 for improvements is changed and reduced to the S 1/2 of said lot and is valued at $1300 for land & the said for $400 for improvements the assessment against D.H. Callahan on lot 5 in block 22 of Denny's plat valued at $1600 for land and $50 for improvements is reduced to $1500 on lot & no change for improvements The assessment against L.H. Terry on lot 8 in block 45 of Denny's plat valued at $800 for lands is erased and struck from said roll. And now all complaints against said roll or any individual assessment therein having been heard
