86 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Be it remembered that on this the 23rd day of June 1882, the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment of June 19th 1882. Present His Honor the Mayor L.P. Smith and Councilmen John Collins, Wm. A. Jennings, Chas McDonald, G. L. Manning, M. Densmore, and Thos Clancy. Thereupon the following proceedings was had: A petition is received from Stewart & Ebusned et al praying for the construction of a sidewalk on the west side of Front Street, the same is thereupon referred to the Street Committee. And now come Beede & Co and make applicaton for a license to retail liquor for the period of three months beginning July 1st 1882, and at the same time said applicants file their bond in accordance with the ordinance relating thereto. After due examination said bond is approved, and the said applicants making due proof that they are persons of good moral character it is therefore ordered that upon their compliance with all the other provisions of said ordinance that clerk be and he is hereby instructed to issue a license to said applicants for the period and purpose above specified. And now comes E. N. Rea, Contrator, and excutes a contract for the erection of the City Engine House, whereupon it is ordered that the Mayor and City Clerk be instructed to execute the same on behalf of the City. In accordance with the requirements of Ordinance No 285 the Mayor appoints a jail committee, towit John Collins, Chas McDonald, & M. Densmore. Ordered that the Chielf of Police be intructed to employ two extra night Policeman and two extra day Policeman for the 3rd and Fourth of July 1882.
