We the undersigned residents and property holders of North Seattle Fully realizing that the present extension of the fire limits in North Seattle is detrimental to the best interests of the locality, petition your honorable Body that the same be re-established on the East and North as follows: The center of Second Street in the East and the center of Vine Street on the North and recommend that on the opposite sides of streets the center of streets are boundries that frame buildings not exceed two stories in height be permitted to be erected.

Read and referred to street committee. Petition of O W Lynch et al for the abatement of a nui-- sance on 10th St between Stewart and Howell Streets Read and referred to Sewer & Drainage Committee. Communication from H W Wheeler et al asking for a franchise from the City for a street railway. Read and referred to Street Committee. Communication from W H H Green recommending Sydney Smith for the position of Policeman. Read and ordered filed. Petition of A A Bell et al for the opening of Bell Street from 7th toDepot Streets. Read and referred to Street Committee. Petition of A A Bell et al for the grading of, and constructing sidewalks on both sides of Eighth Street from Depot St to Mill Street. Read and referred to Street Com. 579 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Aug 17 1888 982 An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An Ordinance vacating the plat of Union Lake Addititon to the City of Seattle'' which is passed by the following vote to wit: In favor of the same Burns, Durie, Jones, McCombs, McDonald, Niesz & Reitze. Against the same none. 982[983?] An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An Ordinance to regulate the use of Streets, wharves and public places and to punishviolation of such regulations'' which is passed by the following vote viz: In favor of the same Burns, Durie, Jones, McCombs, McDonald, Niesz & Reitze. Against the same none. 984 An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An Ordinance authorizing H W Wheeler, J A Stretton, Wm D Wood and L S Wheeler their heirs and assigns to construct operate and maintian a street railway in the City of Seattle'' which is passed by the following vote viz: In favor of the same Durie, Jones, McDonald, Niesz & Reitze. Against the same Burns & McCombs. 985 An Ordinance is submitted by the City Clerk entitled "A Special Ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills'' which is passed by the following vote: In favor of the same Burns, Durie, Jones, McCombs, Mc Donald, Niesz & Reitze.
