Seattle Wash 1889 To the Honerable Mayor and City Council of the City of Seattle We, the undersigned, residents and property holders along the streets herein-after named, respectfully petition your Honorable Body, that provision be made for the proper placing of sewers upon Fourth Street, between Vine and Willburn Streets (recently called Cedar Street), and on Willburn and Willow Streets to Mercer Street, and from thence to some propert out-let. And, also, for the placing of fire-hydrant at the junction of Willow and Depot Streets And your Petitioners further represent, that the District aforesaid is entirely without sewerage, and that want thereof threatens the health of the community. 1 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE May 7 1886 Be it remembered that on this the 7th day of May 1886 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to law The Following officers are present to wit: His Honor the Mayor H L Yesler, councilmen R H Calligan, J Furth, G W Hall, W A Harrington, T W Lake, Chas McDonald, J J Post and G W Young Thereupon the following proceedings are had: The record of the proceedings of the preceeding regular adjourned and special meetings are read and approved The following petitions and Communication are received From Mrs J Finnegan for permissions to conduct a public laundry, on motion the petition is granted. From Mrs Snyder & Mrs Winscott for permission to conduct a public laundry on motion the petition is granted From James Murphy for reonsideration of action in denying his petition for reimbursement for injury received while acting as Special Police officer on motion the petition is referred to the Finance Committee U M Rasin now appears for petitioner and requests have to withdraw the petition. A motion is made to allow to petition to be withdrawn pending which Councilman Furth rises to a point of order that the petition having been referred to a committee cannot not be withdrawn the point of order is sustained From J W Jones for permission to peddle articles of his own manufacture without a license referred to License Committee From A Walters & Co for rebate on liquor license referred to License Committee From Amos Hurst et al for opening of and sidewalk on 3rd Street from Battery toDepot referred to Street Committee
