MR. PRESIDENT:

Your Committee on Streets to whom was referred the Petition of M.H. Young et al would report recommending that a bridge on roadway 16 feet wide, and about 600 feet long, on bents, be divided to be constructed, and that the necessary box drains be also put into position on said street. The work is estimated to cost about $700 for the bridge.

wholly dependent on the condition of said 14th. Street for their family and building supplies.

And your petitioners respectfully show unto your honorable body that said street at the point above mentioned, by reason of the peculiar conformation of the country, receives the drainage from a considerable area, and that by reason of the peculiarity of the soil if left in its present condition during the wet part of the year, would become absolutely impassable, and your petitioners and the residents of the said portion of the city known as Beacon Hill would be entirely cut off from the principal part of the city, so far as being able to procure coal, provisions and material as are necessary for their maintenance and the prosecution of their several vocations.

Wherefore your petitioners pray that your honorable body will cause that portion of said 14th. Street, above referred to, to be refilled up to the established grade and that the same be planked upon the East side of said street over and across the portion herein above referred to.
