Honorable Board of Public Works City of Seattle

Gentlemen:-

We beg to call your attention to the very unsafe condition of the Roadway at the Foot of Norman Street.

The Piling upon which this Road rests is also used by the City to support the Water Mains, and in the present condition, the Main is liable to fall in the Bay at any moment thus cutting off the supply of water to a large number of manufacturers.

We also represent that we are Taxpayers, and doing business in the City of Seattle, and feel that we should be provided with means of Egress and Ingress to, and from, our property.

The Road referred to, is a Public Street, and while it was constructed at private expense, we feel that the City should now repair, and keep it in such order, that we can reach our places of business in safety.

We trust your Honorable body will consider this matter favorably, and repair the Road without unnecessary delay.

Very respectfully submitted,

To the Honorable Mayor and Common Council of the City of Seattle:

Gentlemen: Your special committee to whom was referred the communication of the mayor relating to the construction of a Fire Boat for this city beg to report that we have considered the matter fully and would reccomend that the plans for such a boat be secured at once and contract for the construction. be let at the earliest possible moment. Such plans can be secured at a cost of 3 & 1/2 per cent on the cost which we estimate to be about $35,000. These plans would be furnished by a celebrated naval architect who has prepared. The reason for making this recommendation is that the specification as it came from the Architect specifics that the sheathing after the boat has been floated down to her load line for 4 to 6 weeks.
