Sir,

I beg leave to ask you that if you want mounted troopers for the North you will consider my Application. I am at present undergoing a sentence of Two Month's imprisonment and if you would get me out of this I would be willing to stop for 2 or 3 years and perhaps longer. I was a trooper under Inspector Loyd [sic] at Gimpie [sic] and I left him myself and I think he would speak for me.
