Camp of the Port Denison Expedition Yamba Fitzroy River 28th February 1861

Sir

Understanding that three gins and an infant have been sent with the Detachment of Native Mounted Police under your command to proceed to the Kenedy District

I have the honor to state, in accordance with the authority vested in me by His Excellency the Governor that considering them to be wholly unnecessary, particularly inconvenient & likley to be highly prejudicial to the interests under my charge that I now beg to request you will make necessary arrangements for leaving them here to be returned by first opportunity to Rockhmpaton if need be to proced to their destination by ship.

I have the honor to be so Sir Your most obedient Servant (signed) Ge'o Elphinstone Dalrymple

To the Officer in Command of the Detachment of N.M. Police accompanying the Port Denison Expedition Yamba
