I have the honor to forward under a separate cover the Statement taken before me at the Police Court Cardwell relative to the wreck of the Brig Maria
I regret that want of time prevented my writing to you more fully. I will write to Governor Blackall after taking the evidence of the men saved from the rafts

A little gin about twelve (12) years old has been brought here by Beche de mer boat I believe Kidnapped from Hinchinbrook Island for the worst of purposes has no relatives with her two (2) of her Captors both white men have quarrelled about her possession & I have taken charge of her I strongly recommend that she be sent down to Cardwell & restored to her relatives letter by post [signed] Howard St George PM
