Tuesday, April 11. Got up again at five and left at 6.30. Beautiful cool bright morning. Wonderful drive through the Canon. Most beautiful scenery far beyond my expectations. Rough, rugged, wonderful reminding one somewhat of the Sierra Nevadas. The Benguet road is a marvel of construction. Part of the way it is smooth as a boulevard. Cut from solid rock in many places on the face of a cliff a thousand feet high. Reached Baguio at eleven. It is beautifully situated among the pines. Uncle H. [Henry] went to meet us but missed us. Mrs Thomas came down. Also the Dr. Katrina Wright called. Maj. [Major] Noble came in evening. K.? & I walked.
