Gentlemen

We the undersigned Firm having been assessed $10,000.00 on personal property for the year of 1889 and having lost our Entire Stock of Merchandise during the Conflagration of June 6th and having had but very little Insurance on said Stock of Merchandise beg leave to ask for a reduction of Said assessment to a Just and reasonable amount.
