Appropriation for purchase of trees & shrubs requested
A communication from the Superintendent under date of , asking for "an appropriation of $500. – for the purchase of trees and shrubs this fall, with a view to their sale to proprietors next spring"; also a communication from the same source under date of , asking for an appropriation of from $300.– to $500.– "to be used in decorating the ornamental grounds of the Cemetery;" – were laid before the Board; and, upon motion of Mr. J. T. Bradlee, it was

Voted, – that a sum not exceding $800.– be placed at the disposal of the Committee on Grounds to be used in the purchase of plants, etc., in accordance with the request of the Superintendent.

A communication from Nathaniel Mitchell, proprietor of Lot No 1605, dated , asking permission to place wooden steps at the entrance of his Lot, said letter being enclosed in one from the Superintendent under date of , was laid before the Board; and it was

A report was immediately made by the Committee on Lots declining to accede to the said request, for the reason that compliance therewith would be inconsistent with the duties and obligations of the corporation towards other proprietors.

The regular monthly Meeting of the Trustees was held on Wednesday, , at half past Three o'clock, P. M.
Present, the President, and Messrs J. T. Bradlee, Brewer, Livermore, Lovejoy, Rand and Turner.
Petn of N. Mitchell, Action of Com. on Lots approved.
The record of the last Meeting having been read, the Secretary was instructed to^add to the record of the action of the Committee on Lots in declining the request of Mr N. Mitchell for leave to use wooden steps to his Lot, that the said action was unanimously approved by the Board; and the record so amended was approved. [See p. 25.]
Purchase of Lot of the late Z. Hosmer approved.
An oral communication was received from Mr Livermore stating that he had obtained from the heirs at law of Zelotes Hosmer, deceased, late proprietor of Lot No 281 on Orange Path, containing 300 feet, a conveyance of said Lot to the corporation for the sum of Two hundred and fifty-dollars ($250. –) { Voted, – that the { above action of Mr. { Livermore is hereby { approved _

Voted, – that the Report be accepted and placed on file.
Coolidge Av. claims adjusted by City of Cambridge.
A verbal Report was received from Mr Choate one of the Committee on the "Coolidge Avenue claims" so called, to the effect that no further demands against this corporation were to be anticipated from Messrs. Coolidge and Muzzey; the claims preferred to by them for damages sustained in the alteration of said Coolidge Avenue having been adjusted by the City of Cambridge.
Contract for Perp. Rep. with Guaranty of Lot 559.
The Secretary having stated that the Committee on Lots had recommended the Trustees to guaranty the perpetual repair of Lot No 559 on Greenbrier Path, belonging to the heirs of the late William B. Reynolds for Eight hundred and fifty dollars; it was
Voted, – that the above mentioned contract be concurred in on the part of this Board.
