408 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Mar 7 1888 Be it remembered that on this 7th day of March 1888 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council chamber pursuant to adjournment. The following officers are present, to wit: Mayor Minor, Councilmen J. Furth, J M Frink, Joseph Green, T. W. Lake, Robt. Moran, U. R. Niesz and C F Reitze & W R Forrest Clerk. Petitions etc] Rec'd Communications from G. M. Haller, and others calling the attention of the Council to the petition of L. M. Robbins & others filed [Dec 2nd 1889 for the appointment of J. L. McClellan a day captain of Police, read and referred ot the Committee on Health & Police. Petition of Fred Wilhelm & others for grading and building sidewalks on both sides of Cherry Street from Fourth Street to 13th Street, read and referred to the Street Com. Petition of Adam Orth & others for opening Second Street to a width of ninety feet and grading and laying sidewalks on both sides of same from Depot Street to Pine Street in accordance with the profile attached, read & tabled. Communications from Harbor Master giving estimate of cost of placing three buoys in the Harbor, read and referred to the Committee on Harbors & Wharves. Committee Reports Received From the Street Committee recommending that the petition of the Seattle Upholstering and Manufacturing Company for a lease of a portion of a portion of the foot of Spring Street for a period of five (5) years be granted for the period of three (3) years.
