Hollis Moore, Esq,

Dear Sir,

On going by your Tomb on Friday last, I noticed that your Cap had been delivered. It is very well cut indeed, but it seems, that in carting it in, the wagon slipped, or the cap slipped from the wagon some way fell down the hill, and a considerable chip was knocked out on the right hand upper edge of the top.

came to see me this morning & proposed to leave it to me to pay what should be done; but I told him that was beyond any province, but I would write you about it.

It is a pity as the cap is a fine stone & beautifully cut. The only way

to cure it that I know of is to cut a draft or moulding to lean around the outside of the cap, thus, -

in which way the whole of the obnoxious spots will be cut out. I think this will look very well, &, no one but you & I & Mr Gilman will know why it was done.

He is desirous to hear from you very soon what your decision is. - because he has men at leisure now to cut it.

Mt. Auburn P.O.

Saml T. Snow Esq. D Sir,

Will you give one if you please, a price for lots in rear of those on Fountain Ave, that is between the lots now on South of F. Ave and Indian Ridge. I consider the land only suitable for tombs. I can get a dollar a foot for it, and sell 600 feet for two tombs I think. The parties want an answer by Friday if possible - Land in Hazel dell with Southern exposure sold to Bucknam & Moore for $125 per foot and $50. tomb right, and I should think $1.00 would be a fair price for rear lots with northern exposure. Yours truly James W. Lovering Supt.

Mount. Auburn P.O.

Saml T. Snow Esq. D Sir I have sold Mr. J.C. Squire a lot of 300 ft. corner of Palm Ave. (two branches) He wishes to put the lot under perpet. care and will have but three graves. There is room left for an ornamental bed, which without paying for he wishes to enclose with his curbing. As all the other lots have a border of 6 feet frames posts to the ave., my idea was that you wouldn't care to give him liberty to take this with his lot, even if reservation is made for ornamental purposes alone & he pays for the land in that way - Please advise me.

Yours truly James W. Lovering
