The Following officers are present to wit: Mayor H L Yesler and Councilmen R H Calligan, J Furth, W A Harrington, G W Hall, and T W Lake The following business is transacted to wit: Council proceeds to examine and equalize the Assessment Roll for the year 1886 On motion the Clerk is ordered to notify the following named persons to appear and show cause as the same appears on the assessment Roll for 1886. Should not be raised to wit: Isadore Harris Raised on Personal Property with law.

53 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Jul 28 1886 H Herschberg Raised on Personal Property Seattle Hardware Co Raised on Personal Property Wald & Campbell Raised on Personal Property W P Boyd & Co Raised on Personal Property The following mnamed persons appeared in answer to citation of the Board whereupon the following changes were ordered made. Z C Miles raised on Personal Property from $4000 to $8000 Gordon Hardware Co raised on Personal Property from $12,500 to $15,000 Hinds Heirs by E A Turner agt raised on Improvements of Lot 8 Block 2 Maynards Plat from $5000 to $7000 L Diller Assessment allowed to stand as appears on the roll Robt Kninpe Assessment allowed to stand as appears on the roll Spring Hill Water Co Assessment allowed to stand as appears on the roll Ordered that H L Yesler's assessment to changes as follows Part of H L Yesler Donation claim in 4 & 5 T 24 & 25 R 4 E 77 acres valued at $15,400 reduced to 47.98 acres valued at $9600 Also in H L Yesler Donation Claim in Sec 5 T 24 N R 4 E 4.60 acres be raised to 5.76 acres valuation raised from $2760 to $3460 B Gatzert appears on behalf of Schwabacher Bros & Co and files a written request that the valuation of the stock of merchandise given in by said firm, to wit: $60,000, remain at that sum. On motion of Councilman [Furth]] the communication is laid on the table for the present. Ordered that Council adjourn until tomorrow at 7:30 PM H L Yesler, mayor Attet W R Forrest, clerk Jul 28 1886
