Very much cooler, there must
have been hail yesterday not
far from us. Chas E Bond
was here for medicine to take
with him to Chicago, in case
of sickness at the Worlds Fair
he and Joseph Jr expecting to go
on Sunday next. Edwd rode
over to Riverside to paint
or "Scetch" along the river.
he was gone until supper time
We finished planting sweet
corn in the lot, & I planted
two rows of potatoes next
to the stable. Edwin Davis
sent us the ballance of the
hickory wood. __ Waters
handling it for him.
This has been a lovely day, a
cool N.W. wind blowing all day

Clear & Cloudy
Ther. 65o Saturday June 24th

Still cool & pleasant in
comparison with the weather
we had some days since.
but still too hot in the sun to
do any work in the garden.
Towards evening we planted
all the seed potatoes we had
making eleven rows, we must
get some more & plant at least
four more rows. I went all
through the potato vines, getting
the wretched potato bugs off
for the fifth or sixth time.
I never knew them worse
than they have been this summer
on the early potatoes.
