(Paltasie; from Kotoro) in 1478-79, Boninus later
produced the richly illustrated Latin + Italian editions of
Valturius at Verona in 1483 + in 1487 important illustrated
editions of Dante (the 1st fully illustrated ed.) + Aesop
at Brescia.

Calturius composed his book "On Military Matters" about
1460. After a wide circulation in MSS it was pritned in
1472. The text of the book is on the whole rather backward
looking + contains no revolutionary military principles -
it is the 1st book printed with illust. of a technical or
scientific character depicting the progressive engineering
ideas of the author's own time - the illust are the first
true Italian book illust. probably after designs by
Matteo de Pasti the medallist + pupil of Alberti.
