154 leaves, the last blank. 2 col. 3a: 661 + headline 23(242)x158mm. a8 b-f ff g-p6 q8 r6; A-G0 Types: 140 title, headline of Prologue + headings; 70 text. Capital spaces. The book + distinction - numbers in the headlines are printed in Lombardic majuscules; smaller Lombardic majuscules for distinction numbers in text. -> now ascribed to Hanibaldus himself (Cardinal d. 1272) rather than Th. Aquinas.

70 - small text type. Diamonded A + S, other letters plain, save for slight decoration to stems of I + T and upper stem of F. Used from 1491. 140 - smaller title + heading type; double-barred A, D, G, H, M, N, O, P, S, V. Used from 1491.

N. Kessler of Bottwar - bachelor's degree Univ. of Basel 1471, at first employed by B. Richel. Earliest dated book Missale Basiliense, 29 March 1485. See #284 #382 Amerback - Gothic types 185 - round title type. I of Dr. Haebler's group F (M60) double looped P, square C, round E + I. In use from 1478, superseded in 2487 by 165 B. - These types, 92 A + 106, were used by A. Rusch at Strassbourg in his Biblia Latina cum postillis printed for Koberger. 92 A - text type. Before 1485 there are an alternative florid V + barred H. Superceded in 1487 by 82 B 106 - large text + heading type of plain round form. Dr Haebler's M 49. from 1481 to 1485 it appears filed or kerned to 95 x 92 mm.

Johann Nider - Herolt's mentor. -Johannes Herolt was a Dominican preacher + prior at Nuremberg who died in 1480. His sermons were of considerable cultural, historical + juridical interest.
