week.
Hester Bruce and Elizth. Strickland escaped after tea. they were first missed when mustering for eveng. prayers,
Mrs. A was sent to tell the police, and to ask if they would please to bring them back if they found them. They are both very naughty girls. Hester (a mere child) is far advanced
in wickedness

Teusday 26th. The two runaways were brought back
by a policeman, they promise to behave better in future,
The Matron saw Sarah Farrington sitting on the kerbstone near Deurands [Durands] Alley in a very destitute condition, pointed out to her the awfull sin of such a life. particularly in her that had been taught by ministers & others at the Refuge that prostitutes were like vermin infecting this City. [underscored] Yes, they were a walking pestilence. and advised and begged that she would give it up, before it is too late. [underscored].
offered to either take her home to her parents, or to the Refuge, she at last consented to come to the Refuge. and said she would stay another 12 months. and then "go up the country to a place." -

Lady Young brought a plant in a flower pot [underscored] for the "Midnight girl" (Elizth Cooper) the poor girl seemed so astonished that she scarsly knew what to say, she at last, said, "thank you lady."
