September 27th
Wednesday. Got Mr Roberts to call to see Mr Pratt
was glad to hear, he was able to get up.

Received 2 Norfolk Pines, 2 Sypress (Cypress) trees,
& 1 "Bunyha Bunyha" [Bunya Bunya] from Mr Rt. Moore. Botanical
gardens. with a promise of more when we are ready for them.
also, a parcel containing bulbs & seeds from Mrs Pratt. We asked Jane Lambourne why
she gave her herself such a romantic name as Lucy Herbert
she said she "had read a tale about a girl of that name, that ran away from home but was good afterwards".
Mr. Baptiste sent a present of 1 dozen lituses
and a few celiflours.

Received yesterday from Mr -- (pr Mrs Goodlet)
1 Doz. Nos. 'Leisure Hour', 1 Doz Nos. " Sunday at
Home" & 3 n Nos "Sunday Magn." - a great many of
the inmates are so glad to have them and other nice
books to read.

Thursday
28th
Revd Charles Ord [Orde] preached this evng. All the
inmates were very still and attentive.

Friday 29th
The girls are delighted to help in the garden.
6 of them were raking the grass (in turns) and got enough
to fill two beds. Then they picked up stones that
had accumulated and burnt all the rubbish
