Monday Irvin a police man called to say he had found both the girls in a house of ill fame in York St and lodged them for [inserted] prison since 10 oclk this morng. he well derserves the thanks of the Committee. for his prompt attention
by which we have got back two good drapes, two old ones. two pr Stockings 2 pr leather boots, 1 apron, 3 Shimmies, 2 petticoats 1 print jacket
Teusday [tuesday] 18th Mr Roberts accompanied the Matron to the Central Police Court. Sarah White & M.A.Burns were brought out of the Cell by a policeman, and were sent into a room to strip off the Refuge clothes in the presence of the Matron afterwards they were tried and fined (M.A 5/- & Sarah 2/6.) Sarah's Mother offered to take her home, but its doubtfull [doubtful] if she'll stay. after tea Jane Drew said she had a good
gold brooch pawned in a shop in Southhead Road for 5/- She was asked what it cost? "it was a present, but I think it was worth three guineas" the Matron offered to go with her at once. [underscored] but it was too late " it was sold long since" having been 9 months in pawn. in coming back, she was much cast down, and said " how foolish I have been, I have lost so many things the same way, really I hope to have more sense for the future," You have [underscored] sense Jane, it is the grace of God that is wanted, pray earnestly to God for pardon for all that is past, and it wd. be well with her yet.

Wednesday 19th Matron went by request of the Ladies to Manly
Beach with Jane Drew to the Steyne Hotel, started 10 oclk and returned 2 oclk, she got her clothes, after payg [paying] 3.5.0. pounds
