May 7th
Wednesday. Mr P. Thompson late Francis Giles & co. sent two peices [pieces] quincey 2 Doz prs Strong worsted stockings. All the inmates are getting well provided with warm clothing.

Thursday 18th Cathn [Catherine] Richards has been quite a different girl ever since she saw her father. Matron asks her every day if she keeps her promise and prays to God to give her a new heart and make her a good girl. "yes I do" she replies [inserted] we have no trouble now in getting her to school as formerly.
Friday 19th Commenced having a fire in the inmates dinning [dining] room, the weather being so severe. Susan Johnson and three others made bad use of the privilige [privilege] by sitting around it, to sing songs after prayers. Mrs Spur sent a parcel of clothing for Melinda and a note stating that indisposition prevented her visiting the Refuge this week.
Saturday 20th We have great trouble with Eliz.th [Elizabeth] Cooper so idle and exeedingly [exceedingly] destructive not only with her clothes but every thing she has to do with.
Sabbath 21st A young woman was brought in this morng. [morning] early by Mr J. Rutledge as named Margt [Margaret] Brooks who has just come from prison.
Margt [Margaret O'Brian calld [called] whilst we were engaged at the afternoon service. She was not asked to stay.
