AUGUST - SEPTEMBER 1944
31 Thur
Cold windy day. Did some
knitting and helped Auntie in morning. Jane
was immunised. Caught the 4.15 bus home
in afternoon. Read a book in the evening.
Bill & Taffy came in after supper.
Daddy's birthday
1 Sept. Fri - Partridge Shooting begins
Germany invaded Poland, 1939
Quite a
nice day. I gave Daddy some music for his
birthday. Helped Mummy all the morning
and served in the afternoon & evening
Mummy & Daddy went to the pictures. I mowed
the lawn. Got stung with a wasp.
2 Sat - Full Moon 8.21 p.m.
s.r. 5.14, s.s. 6.45
Wet windy day.
Helped Mummy all the morning. Had
a bath in afternoon and read a book.
Bill & Gerald popped in and Bill came
in in evening. We played games and
had a chapter of Wind in the Willows.
Where movable cold frames are available, it is a good
plan to mark out a site the same size as the frame on
which to sow Lettuces for winter use. The frames can
be moved into position at a later date when required.
