Very close day. Mummy went to
Ely in morning. Janet to dentists. Janet
& I did work. I made some shortbread.
Mummy to Janet and I to pictures in
evening. We saw Jane Eyre, it was
quite good.

18 Fri - New Moon 8.25 p.m.
Windy day. Helped
Mummy wash in morning and did my
ironing in afternoon. Cooked some
apples in evening. Muriel came up
and we had a good time together.

I peeled potatoes
19 Sat - s.r. 4.51, s.s. 7.15
Showery day. Helped
Mummy all the morning and did some
cooking. Had a bath in afternoon. Had
a RAF party in evening. Taffy Betty
Gerald & Denys were there. We played
some games & listened to a play on the
wireless.

Where Onion Fly is known to be troublesome and
conditions are favourable for Onion plants over-wintering,
sow in a nursery seed-bed good keeping varieties of
Onions for transplanting the following March. Suitable
varieties of Lettuce may also be sown, transplanting in
October to a well-drained and protected site to stand
the winter.
