20 Thur - New Moon, 5.42 a.m.
Lovely day. cycled
to school in morning had biology exam and then
came home. Helped Mummie in afternoon. Mrs Hobson
& Mrs Baxter came. Phil and Alex came in evening.
I went hunting with Alex but we didn't shoot
anything. Bill & Taffy came in evening

21 Fri
Phil and Alex are both missing. We lost
7 planes. Revised all the morning. Went to
school on midday bus and had D.S. Theory exam
which wasn't too bad. Mowed lawn in evening.
Bill came and cheered us up. He played
his mouth organ.

22 Sat - S. Mary Magdalene
s.r. 4.8, s.s. 8.4
Helped Mummy all the
morning and cleaned my bedroom and the hall.
Had a bath in afternoon and cut tomatoe plants
up. Started making brooches for Red Cross in
evening. Betty Bill and Taffy came to supper
and we had a mad game of ball on the lawn.

Make the first sowing of Endive for winter supplies.
Herbs that are required for winter use should be cut
just before they come into flower. Tie them into small
loose bunches and suspend in a warm airy place (excluding
direct sunlight) and dry thoroughly before storing.
