Ald Irwin brought up the petition of Orlando
S Strange Esq and 52 others against the watering of
certain streets

On motion of Ald Thompson seconded by Ald Irwin
Ordered, That the petitions of James Kane and others
and Orlando S. Strange and others be referred to the
Committee on Fire, Water and Gas on same matter of street
watering.

Ald Harty brought up the petition of WJ Crothers
respecting drain. Referred to the Committee on Streets

Ald Carson brought up the petition of CW Wright
respecting drain corner of Colborne and Division street.
Referred to the Committee on Streets

Ald Whiting from the Committee on Finances
and Accounts brought up two reports (Numbers
354 & 355 Book E) which were read and adopted.

Ald Thompson from the Committee on Streets
and Improvements brought up a Report (Number
356 Book E) which was read

Ald Thompson moves seconded by Ald Adams
That the report of the Committee on Streets
be received and adopted

In amendment
Ald Adams moves seconded by Ald Little
That the City Engineer furnish to this Council
a monthly report of the work done and probable
expenditure in each Ward which being put was
lost Yeas 5 Nays 13 and the original motion was
carried.

On motion of Ald Gildersleeve seconded by Ald McKelvey
Orderedd, That the resolution fixing the date
of the Civic Holiday on August 6th be reconsidered.

On moition of Ald Gildersleeve second by Ald
McKelvey
Ordered, That the Mayor be authorised to change
the date of the Civic Holiday from August the 6th to
7th

The Council went into Committee of the whole
in the second reading of The By Law entitled "A By Law to raise by
way of loan the sum of $16000 for the purposes therein
mentioned was introduced for a second reading.
