Ald Thompson moves seconded by Ald Dunn
That the report of the Select Committee to strike
the standing Committees for the year 1885 in Re appropriations
be reconsidered - which being put was lost Yeas 9
Nays 12 - and the original motion was carried

The Chairman from the Committee on Finance
and Accounts brought up a Report (Number 253 Book E)
(Budget for the Year)

The Council went into Committee of the whole on
the Budget

Ald Redden in the Chair
The Council resumed

The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the
following resolution adopted in Committee

Resolved, That the appropriation for streets it is
understood that the sum of $2726 of the reduction made
by the Finance Committee from the Report of the Streets Committee
shall be taken form the expenditure proposed for Young street
and North street drains - and also that the Budget
was adopted.

On motion of Ald Harty seconded by Ald Hobart
Ordered, That the Budget as submitted be passed
and confirmed.

Ald Harty introduced a By Law to levy
a rate of seventeen and one half mills on the dollar
upon the assessed value of the rateable property in the
City of Kingston for the lawful purposes of the Municipality
for the year of our Lord 1885 which was read a first
time.

The 30th Rule was suspended and the Council
went into Committee of the whole on the second reading
of the By Law

Ald Robinson in the Chair
The Council resumed.

Teh Committee rose and the Chairman reported the
second reading of the By Law clause by clause.
The Report was received.

The By Law was read a third time and passed.

On motion of Ald McKelvey seconded by Ald O'Brien
Ordered, That the Treasurer be authorised to allow
St Pauls Church the use of the City Hall on Monday
evening the 29th instant at the usual rate, for a
Strawberry festival

On motion the Council adjourned
