reconsidered.

received and adopted.

That the Report of the Finance Committee be
amended by striking out the last clause which withdraws
the support from the families of our volunteers

That the Report be amended to the effect that
the payment to families of volunteers on Active Service in
the North West be continued which being put was lost
and the first amendment was carried Yeas 11 Nays 7

Ordered, That the report of the Finance Committee

Ordered, That the Mayor communicate with
the Military authorities with the object of ascertaining
if married men of the R.W.O. 14th Volunteer Battalion
cannot be released from Garrison duty here, to save
further expenditure on their behalf by the City

On motion of Ald Bermingham seconded by
Ald Thompson
Ordered, That His Worship The Mayor
be instructed to communicate with the Dominion
Government and request that the City be refunded
the amount expended for the relief of the families of
the Volunteers

The Chairman from the Committee on Streets
and Improvements brought up a Report (Number 350
Book E) which was read and adopted

The Chairman from the Committee on Fire,
Water and Gas brought up a Report (Number 351 Book E)
which was read and adopted

Ordered, That the City Engineer is hereby authorised
to employ the additional men and horses necessary to do the
street watering provided for in By Law No 146 and that all
the work in conneciton therewith be done under his direction
and
