Monday 8 O'clock P.M. Kingston
December 24th 1883

A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of
Kingston was held this day. Present

His Worship the Mayor

Aldermen
John Carson, R.J. Carson, Clements, Creeggan, Downing,
Dunn, McGuire, McIntyre, Quigley, Smythe, J. Wilson,
W. Wilson.

The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting.

Ald McIntyre from the Committee on Finance and Accounts
brought up a report (Number 224 Book E) which was received
and adopted.

The Chairman from the Court of Revision brought up a
Report (Number 225 Book E) In Re Taxes vessel Property which
was read and adopted.

The Chairman from the Committee on Fire Water and Gas
brought up a report (Number 226 Book E) which was read
and adopted.

The Chairman from the Committee on Licenses brought up
a report (Number 227 Book E) which was read and adopted.

A communication from George A. Kirkpatrick Esquire Secy
Collegiate Institute was read respecting the appointment of two
Trustees and the retiring ones are Dr Sullivan and Dr McCammon

Ald McIntyre moves seconded by Ald McGuire
That Dr. Sullivan and Dr. McCammon be appointed
Trustees of the Collegiate Institute.

In Amendment 1st
Ald W Wilson moves seconded by Ald R.J. Carson
That Dr. Sullivan and Dr. Clements be the Trustees
for the Collegiate Institute.

In Amendment 2nd
Ald Creeggan moves seconded by Ald Law
That Ald McIntyre and Dr. Sullivan be the
High School Trustees for 1884 which being put was lost.
The first Amendment being put was carried and the original
motion lost.

The Mayor submitted a Telegram from Rat Portage
stating the Portage has been visited by Fire and asking assistance.
There was no action taken thereon.

On motion the Council adjourned.
