Monday 8 O'Clock P.M.
Kingston December 10 1883

A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of
Kingston was held this day. Present

His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
John Carson, R.J. Carson, Clements, Crothers, Creeggan,
Downing, Dunn, Gildersleeve, Irving, Law, McGuire,
McIntyre, Quigley, Redden, Shaw, Smythe, Whiting,
J. Wilson, W. Wilson

The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting.

The Chairman from the Court of Revision brought up a
Report (Number 221 Book E) which was read and adopted.

Ald McGuire from the Committee on Finance and Accounts
brought up a Report (Number 222 Book E) which was read
and adopted.

The Chairman from the Committee on Streets and
Improvements brought up a Report (Number 223 Book E)
which was read and adopted.

The Mayor reported an extract from the minutes of the
Police Commissioners In the matter of police clothing which was read.

An opinion form M. Agnew on the subject was also read.

Ald McIntyre introduced a By Law to fix the places
in each ward in the City of Kingston where the nomination
of candidates for the office of Alderman shall take place
and to appoint Returning Officers to hold the said nominations
which was read a first time.

The 30th Rule was suspended as regards the reading
of this By Law.

The Council went into Committee of the whole
on the second reading.

Ald Whiting in the Chair
The Council resumed.

The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the second
reading of the By Law clause by clause as amended.
The Report was received.

The By Law was read a third time and passed.

Ald McIntyre introduced a By Law to appoint
Deputy Returning Officers and places for holding the next
Municipal Elections for the City of Kingston, which was read
a first time.

The 30th Rule was suspended as regards the reading of
this By Law.

The Council went into Committee of the whole on the
second reading.

The Council resumed.

The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the second reading
of the By Law clause by clause as amended. The Report was received
