Ald Shaw gives notice that he intends introducing
a By Law at the next regular meeting of this Council to
repeal the present By Law regulating privileges granted
merchants displaying their goods in front of their stores and
that this be first reading of the By Law.

On motion the Council adjourned.

A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City
of Kingston was held this day. Present

His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
John Carson, RJ Carson, Clements, Creeggan,
Dunn, Irving, McGuire, Quigley, Redden,
Smythe, Whiting

The Clerk read the Minutes of the last meeting.

Ald RJ Carson from the Committee on Finance and
Accounts brought up a Report (Number 219 Book E) which
was read, received and adopted.

The Chairman from the Committee on Licenses brought
up a Report (Number 220 Book E) which was read
and adopted.

A Communication from Mr Edwin Horsey Chief of
Police was read making application for the room next the
Police Station for an office. Referred to the Committee on
City Property.

A Communication from Messrs Haffner Brothers was
read asking for a Butchers license for the remainder of
the year.

On motion of Ald McGuire seconded by Ald Creeggan
Ordered, That on the petition of the Haffner Brothers one
sixth of the license fee be accepted.

Ald John Carson brought up the petition of Captain
Abbie Thompson praying for a remission of the rent of the
Hall on the occasion of the Banquet given by the Salvation
Army granted on the usual conditions.

Ald McGuire brought up the petition of Daniel Murphy
for leave to lay down building materials on Rideau & Bay streets.
Granted.

Ald Redden brought up the petition of Messrs
Macnee & Minnes respecting frontage. Referred to the Committee
on
