complaining of the state of Sydenham street. Referred to

A Communication from CH Wilkinson, Halifax was
read In Re Loaning money &c. No action.

Communications from GM Macdonnell for Mrs Haynes,
D Anderson, WBH Anglin respecting taxes were read
and referred to the Court of Revision.

Petitions from John Hurley and CW McDonald
respecting taxes were referred to the Court of Revision

Ald Gildersleeve brought up the petition of Jonathan
Cayle and 6 others Carters praying for an awning &c to be
erected along the side of the street on which they are placed.
Referred to the Committee on Licenses.

The Council went into Committee of the whole on the
second reading of the By Law to partially exempt the property
real and personal of the firm of Davidson, Doran & Company
forwarders and machinists from Municipal and School taxes
for a period of ten years from the first day of January next

The Council resumed

The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the second
reading (clause by clause) of the By Law. The Report was
received.

The 30th Rule was suspended and the By Law
was read a third time and passed.

On motion of Ald Redden seconded by Ald Irving
Ordered, That it be an instruction to the Committee on
Streets to take such action in reference to the street crossings as will
cause their completion between the rails of the Street Railway tracks.

On motion of Ald Creeggan seconded by Ald Quigley
Ordered, That the present Weigh House in No 1 Market be
demolished & that the Market Committee report upon some suitable
location to take its place.

On motion of Ald RJ Carson seconded by Ald McIntyre
Ordered, That the City Engineer be instructed by this
Council to make the street Railway Company repair the portion of
the street occupied by them above the Bridge on Princess street
opposite Mr Hentigs House

On motion of Ald McGuire seconded by Ald McIntyre
Ordered That the Dominion Government be requested
to reply to the application of the City for the purchase of the
broken front of the property known as the Herchimer Farm

On motion the Council adjourned.
