Accounts brought up three Reports (Numbers 201,
202 & 203 Book E) which were received and
adopted.

Ald McIntyre Chiarman of the Select
Committee on Water Works brought up a Report (Number
204 Book E) which was read and adopted.

The Chairman from the Committee on the
Market brought up a Report (Number 205 Book E) which
was received and adopted

The Chairman from the Committee on Fire, Water
and Gas brought up a Report (Number 206 Book E) which
was read and adopted

Ald Crothers here entered

Ald McIntyre introduced a By Law to fix a price to be
offered to the City of Kingston Water Works Company for its
works—which being put was read a first time.

The suspension of the 30th Rule was moved which was
lost. Yeas 7 Nays 12

Ald McIntyre introduced a By Law to appoint
officers under the By Law passed on the 15th day of June 1840
intitatled "An Act to alter and amend an act passed by
the Mayor Aldermen and commonalty of the Town of Kingston
in Common Council assembled on the 25th day of June 1838
entitled "An Act for the suppression of Nuisances in and
good government of the Town of Kingston" to enforce and
carry out the same—which was read a first time.

The 30th Rule was suspended and the Council
went into Committee of the whole on the second reading

The Council resumed

The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the second
reading of the By Law clause by clause. The Report was
received.

The By Law was read a third time and passed
On motion of Ald Smythe seconded by Ald RJ Carson
Ordered, That whereas Wednesday the 15th day of
August instant has by resolution of this Council been set
apart as the Civic Holiday. Resolved that the Mayor
do issue the usual proclamation that it be observed as a
Civic Holiday

A Communication from Edwin Horsey Chief of the
Fire Department wsa read stating that the suction hose of
the Chatham Streamer is beyond repair—left with Fire Water & Gas

A Communication of the Chief Engineer of the Fire
Department was read asking permission on behalf of the
Kingston Fire Department to take part in a Fireman's
demonstation with [one] of the Engines, at Cape Vincent New York
on the 16th day of August next
