That this Council express their opinion that it is not
expedient to proceed with the Arbitration as to the expropriation
of land of Mr. Bajus and that the City Solicitor be instructed
to prepare a By Law repealing the By Law appointing an
Arbitrator which being put was lost.

A Communication from James Agnew Esq. City Solicitor
was read In Re Arbitration &c - no action.

A Communication from Reuben Hallam was read
asking for information respecting the manufacturing trade of
Kingston. Referred to the Committee on City Property.

A Communication from Mr. Samuel Phippen Secretary
Public School Board enclosing Estimates for the year was
read and referred to the Finance Committee.

A Communication from Mr M Drennan Secretary to
Committee for Dominion Day Celebration was read asking for
a Grant towards celebration.

On motion of Ald Crothers seconded by Ald Allen
Ordered, That the Finance Committee provide the sum
of $300 for the Dominion Day Celebration and that a
Committee consisting of Aldermen McIntyre, Smythe,
John Carson, Gildersleeve, Whiting and McGuire have
the control of this amount.

Ald Smythe brought up the petition of James McLeod
Captain and F.W. Wilkinson Secretary and Treasurer of
the Star Base Ball Club praying that the North East
quarter of the Cricket field be assigned to them for practice.
Referred to the Committee on Parks.

Ald Gildersleeve brought up the petitions of John Perdue
for assistance and John McMillan, C Loomis, Curtis and others
and the Kingston Manufacturing Company respecting location
which were referred to the Finance Committee to report.

Ald John Carson brought up the petitions of James
Robb for a remission of License and William M. Drennan
in reference to location. Referred respectively to the
Committee on Licenses and Court of Revision.

On motion the Council adjourned.
